Gary P. Foster, Master of Photography

Gary began his career in professional photography in 1971. As a self taught full time photographer he opened a studio on Brooklynside Road in Port Allegany in 1974 and in 1982 built a new studio on Route 155 north of Port Allegany. With his love for photography and nature, he was the first in a far reaching area to bring professional portrait photography outdoors. Having studied with many nationally and internationally acclaimed Masters, Gary continues to perfect his craft.

Gary’s photography has earned many top regional, state, and national awards. They include Best of Show, Highest Scoring Print, The Hallmark Award For Best Color Portrait, and Best Folio. He has received the Best Folio Award six times. Each of the folio entries were comprised of high school senior portraits. Gary has received the “Court of Honor” award, New York State’s highest award, twice. One of his portrait images has been published in a coffee table book showcasing the best work by professional photographers worldwide. Another portrait was selected for the Professional Photographers of America Loan Collection, an elite compilation of 200 images that travel the world on display. In 1996 he was awarded the prestigious Master of Photography Degree from Professional Photographers of America, the world’s largest organization of professional photographers. Although much of his studio work has evolved into a fashion style of photography, Gary is best known for his unique compositions depicting his clients relaxed and natural in outdoor environments. His goal is to capture the unique personality of each person in an artistic and decorous manner.

With digital photography opening up many new creative possibilities, Gary’s passion for photography is stronger than ever.
